Applause As Solomon Airlines First Flight To Santo Espiritu Island Touches Down
Solomon Airlines first flight from Brisbane to Vanuatu’s Santo Espiritu landed to an applause from onlookers and a water canon salute at Santo-Pekoa International Airport today, marking the recommencement of a weekly international service from Brisbane, Australia.
Solomon Airlines will operate Flight IE726 as a 2-hour 50-minute non-stop service every Thursday
departing at 9.00am, arriving in Santo at 12.50pm local time. Return services from Santo will operate
on Thursdays as Flight IE726 departing Santo at 1.50pm arriving Port Vila at 2.35pm, departing
Port Vila as Flight IE718 at 3.35pm arriving in Brisbane at 5.40pm.
The re-established connectivity, thanks to Solomon Airlines, provides a welcome boost to the local tourism economy, and will help us to continually see Australian visitation numbers rise as we welcome holidaymakers to our shores in 2024 and beyond.
The weekly Airbus A320 service reopens an important direct route for passengers and freight between Australia and Vanuatu, via the Brisbane gateway. Espiritu Santo, located in Vanuatu’s northern islands is the country’s largest island and one of its most popular international holiday destinations.

Solomon Islands national carrier is taking a step forward in bridging the Pacific and is proud to announce an increase in scheduled services between Vanuatu and New Zealand with the commencement of scheduled flights to Papua New Guinea.
Honiara-Port Vila-Auckland
Effective from 19 June Solomon Airlines will increase to 2 x flights weekly between Honiara, Port Vila and Auckland. The current flight IE710 Port Vila-Auckland will depart Mondays 5:50pm arriving Auckland 10:05pm. The additional flight IE 710 will depart Port Vila Wednesdays at 5:25pm, arriving Auckland at 9:40pm. The return journey from Auckland to Port Vila is currently Flight IE711 departing Tuesdays 12pm with the additional serving being Thursday at 12pm. Both flights arrive into Port Vila 2:15pm. The entire route connects Honiara – Port Vila – Auckland both ways ensuring consistent connectivity between the three countries
Effective from 4 October services will increase to 3 x flights weekly Honiara-Port Vila-Auckland, with an additional IE710 service on Fridays departing Port Vila 5:50pm, arriving Auckland at 10:05pm, and returning on Saturdays departing Auckland at 12pm, arriving Port Vila at 2:15pm.
