65,000 fares drop in massive Jetstar Christmas sale as airline reinvents silly season staple

Jetstar has today announced a network-wide Crack-up Christmas Sale, with more than 65,000 discounted one-way fares from $35^ (e.g. Christchurch to Wellington), as it gears up for one of its busiest Christmas peak periods in years.
Club Jetstar members will have 12 hours exclusive early access* from midday today, with the sale opening to the public from midnight tonight. Travellers can sign up to become a Club Jetstar member at Jetstar.com when making a booking.
To celebrate the silly season, the low-cost carrier has also launched a special campaign, reinventing the humble Christmas Cracker with the help of one of New Zealand’s favourite comedians, Joe Daymond.
The ‘Crack-up Crackers’ will be given to Jetstar passengers for free during the month of December (while stocks last) and include jokes written by Daymond, and gifts “you’ll actually want” such as Jetstar travel vouchers, sunglasses, power-adaptors and more.
“We’ve all cracked open a cracker to find a subpar gag and a thimble or miniature tape measure” said Daymond.
“When was the last time you used a thimble? That’s why I teamed up with Jetstar to scour the country for better material and craft some worthy one-liners for the new and improved crackers.
“I can’t promise that you’ll laugh, but I can promise it’ll be better than your uncle’s Christmas table chat” added Daymond.
Crack-up Christmas sale
The Crack-up Christmas Sale will run for four days, starting at midnight tonight and ending at 11.59pm NZDT Sunday 15 December, unless sold out prior. Domestic fares will be available from $35^ (e.g. Christchurch to Wellington) and international fares will be available from $130^ (e.g. Hamilton to Sydney).
Travel dates vary per route but include mid-February to mid-October 2025 for domestic and mid-January to mid-October 2025 for international.
