VANUATU – Nguna! 7th October 2023 Edition: TALEFA RUN

The Vanuatu Tourism Office is proud to present the second Vanuatu Volcano Run this year on the extinct volcanoes of beautiful Nguna.

 

ELITE RUN – 21 KM + 1700m ELEVATION

Embark on a journey like no other in the Elite Run! 🏞️ Traverse two ancient volcanoes and relish panoramic views of Shepherd Islands and Efate. Immerse in culture by passing through vibrant villages. It will be an unforgettable experience driving you to Nguna’s unknown places! 🌋🏃‍♂️

 

CHALLENGING HIKE – 15 KM + 1300m ELEVATION

Experience Nguna’s beauty on a slightly shorter trail but also challenging, soaking in breathtaking landscapes. You will traverse one ancient volcano and encounter diverse ecosystems, from lush gardens to wild canes, plantations, and serene creeks. Don’t miss this unique adventure and opportunity to discover unknown places in Nguna! 🌿🏞️

This race not only allows you to test your determination but also allows you to experience the stunning scenery of Talefa (North Efate). Starting from Utlanlangi Village (North Ouest), the racecourse goes from volcanoes to volcanoes, winding its way through rainforest and picturesque communities where you’ll be cheered on as you pass. You’ll encounter the genuine hospitality of Shefa up close.
To register as a team of two or on your own, fill up the download the registration form from our website or come and collect a copy of the registration form at the Vanuatu Tourism Office. Return it to us with your registration fee of Vt3,000 per person. Your registration fee includes a Vanuatu Volcano Run t-shirt, number bib, and boat transfer to and from the race!

Elite Run and Challenging Hike will start at 7 a.m. on 7th October. If you come from Port Vila, we will organize early morning buses leaving from town to be on time for the race departure. Buses will also be available to come back to Vila in the afternoon.  As the primary goal of this event is t to support local tourism and communities, we encourage you to arrive on Friday the 6th and sleep in Pele on Friday the 6th, enjoy your race and prize ceremony on Saturday and finish with a feast in Pele island and overnight in Pele. Then, relax on Sunday with your friends and family.

 

Travel Packages & Accommodation

Why not stay for the weekend in Nguna or Pele?

Travel packages will be available for booking through VTO (see above for phone numbers). We can cater to single travellers and family and friends group bookings. Accommodations for the race can also be booked through VTO.
Safety

The Vanuatu Volcano Run is an elite endurance running event. All runners must have a high level of fitness and be sufficiently trained to be able to run long distances in harsh conditions. All runners must sign a waiver and acknowledge that they are entering the event at their own risk.

In case of emergencies, there will be medical personnel on standby.
