TASMANIAN WALKING COMPANY LAUNCHES THREE CAPES ADVENTURE WALK AND ADDS FINAL CAPE TO ICONIC TRAIL
When Meatloaf belted out his 70s anthem Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad, he may have been referring to Tasmania’s Three Capes Track. The iconic trail located on the knife edge of the Australian continent first opened in 2015 and offers dramatic landscapes, high biodiversity, historical sites, and as per its namesake, three impressive Capes.
Until recently, however, guided walks visited just two of the capes; Cape Pillar and Cape Hauy and offered only distant vistas of Cape Raoul. According to Meatloaf, that’s not bad.
This December, nine years after the Three Capes Track first opened, Tasmanian Walking Company (TWC) will knit together the final section of the track and present the Three Capes Adventure Walk, adding an additional night’s accommodation, a new trail, and most importantly, the final promontory to its Three Capes Signature Walk.
It will mark the first time that guests on a guided walk will be able to step foot on all three landmarks: Cape Pillar, Cape Hauy and Cape Raoul.
Tasmanian Walking Company’s Head of Values & Standards, Heath Garrett said the Three Capes Adventure Walk builds on the existing Three Capes Signature Walk, one of just 13 trails inscribed into the league of Great Walks of Australia.
“The Three Capes Adventure Walk is bigger than our Three Capes Signature Walk. It offers more time, more steps, and more challenges,” Mr Garrett said.
“At 75 kilometres – or 25 kilometres longer than the Signature Walk – it is the only guided walk that physically touches all three Capes. It will appeal to a hardier adventurer eager to tick off all three Capes.”
The extended Walk includes a six-hour return trek to Cape Raoul Lookout on the first day and one night at a new, private-use, safari-style tent known as Tasman Camp. The Walk will then connect to the regular Three Capes trail which is famous for impressive cliff edges, 180-million-year-old dolerite columns and a well-mapped trail that meanders from windswept moorlands to densely green forests. For the remaining nights, guests will stay in Tasmanian Walking Company’s private use secluded lodges, the sole accommodations within the Tasman National Park.
Mr Garret added that while Tasmanian Walking Company has expanded the itinerary, the company’s core offerings remain the same.
“Each day we’ll give you spectacular trails brimming with diversity and curious stories, and nights to recharge in private eco-accommodation with chef-inspired meals. Warm showers and cosy beds are the baseline amenities. The walk also offers special treats like spa treatments, a yoga room, and a cold-bath plunge pool,” said Mr Garrett.
The Five-Day Three Capes Adventure Walk launches December 2024, with the 2024/25 season completely sold out. To make a booking for the 2025/26 season, visit the Tasmanian Walking Company website now or contact the team via bookings@taswalkingco or 1300 767 416.
