Iconic Attraction wins Outstanding Pool at Recreation Aotearoa Awards
AWARD 🏆
Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa (HSTPS) has scooped up a national award in recognition of its aquatic triumphs.
The facility was announced as the winner of the Outstanding Pool category at the Recreation Aotearoa Awards in Auckland.
The awards celebrate individuals, places, programmes, and projects that enhance people’s wellbeing through recreation.
General Manager Graeme Abbot says win is an “amazing tribute” to all staff.
“Winning the award is an incredible acknowledgment of our staff’s dedication and the values we stand for,” he says.
“Creating a sense of belonging, engagement, wellbeing, continual learning and fun are at the heart of what we do here,” Graeme says.
In recent years, HSTPS set itself apart from other recreation businesses through transformative initiatives, including a revitalised people and culture strategy, a new health and wellbeing program, and an enhanced employee recognition scheme.
These efforts have turned the organisation into a supportive, close-knit community. The results have reduced staff turnover and resulted in world-class Net Promoter Scores (NPS), solidifying its reputation as a premier employer in the recreation industry.
“We’re incredibly proud of our team. We’ve built a culture where everyone pitches in to get the job done. Winning this award is a testament to the strength of our community and the commitment we share to make Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa a truly exceptional place to work,” Graeme says.
The accolade recognises HSTPS’s commitment to fostering a workplace that champions the wellbeing and hauora of its staff, creating an environment that attracts top-tier talent from New Zealand and beyond.
“By prioritising our team’s wellbeing and creating a positive environment, we not only enhance our workplace but also enrich the experience for every guest who visits us,” Graeme says.
Just recently the complex was given the Aquatics Innovation Operations Award by Recreation Aotearoa for its staff wellness programme.
