Alaska Plunges Into Deep Freeze With Temperatures Well Below Zero -40
WATCH ????
Much of Alaska has plunged into a deep freeze, with temperatures dipping as low as -40 degrees Fahrenheit in recent days in some places. Anchorage is seeing some of its coldest temperatures in years as the mayor of the state’s largest city opened warming facilities for those who are homeless or who don’t have reliable heating. The extreme cold in some areas caused heating fuel to thicken, breaking heaters, and in Anchorage, the roofs of at least two businesses collapsed under the weight of the snow. Meanwhile, Alaska’s capital, Juneau, set a new January snowfall record of more than 6.5 feet on Thursday.
