150 Reasons to visit Hurunui – tell us what’s your reason

Hurunui Tourism are creating the ultimate list of reasons (150 to be exact) for Kiwis to visit, with the help of the public and local personalities.
Visit Hurunui is calling on local tourism operators, residents and visitors to share their favourite reasons for visiting one of New Zealand’s best kept secrets.
Visit Hurunui marketing manager Shane Adcock says Hurunui is a region loved by all those who visit on various holidays and those who live in the region – and it is these reasons they are keen to collect.
“We’re looking for the best winery, hill walk, cafe, or even your favourite dairy because they have generous $1 mixtures! Maybe the greatest pie, mountain bike track or river swim because of the vista. We’re looking for your special reasons behind visiting – not the “tick the box” reasons.”
“It could be your favourite dairy because they serve up the biggest scoop? Perhaps it’s a motel in town with the plumpest cushions? Or is it the North Canterbury hospitality you get from the local tea rooms?”
From April 19 Visit Hurunui will be collecting 150 reasons to visit the region online. All those who submit a reason will go in the draw to win one of three epic holiday prize packages with a combined value of over $6,000.
The public are invited to submit their reasons today at visithurunui.co.nz and share their reasons to visit on Facebook and Instagram with the hashtag #150ReasonsHurunui.
Hurunui ambassador and Olympic mountain biker Anton Cooper says his reason to visit is the network of world-class mountain bike tracks located in the Hanmer Forest.
Anton Cooper features in the launch video, alongside broadcaster Chris Lynch and New Zealand netballer, Jane Watson.
Shane says to keep an eye out for the grand unveiling of this list in May.
“We’ve got a really exciting year ahead of us and a very big anniversary is looming for Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa. We want to have some fun and celebrate our region for all that makes it great. There might be a few surprises in the mix at the end of this process but that’s even better!”
